Trust & Safety

At Shacked, your safety and trust are our top priorities. We are committed to creating a secure environment where students can confidently book and host short-term housing.

User Verification

We take steps to verify users and reduce risks. All users must verify their email, and we strongly encourage using a .edu email address. Completing your profile with a photo, bio, and university info helps build community trust. Verified accounts receive a special badge.

Secure Payments

All payments are processed through trusted, secure third-party providers like Stripe. This protects both hosts and guests from fraud. Never send money or share financial details outside of our platform.

Listing Integrity

Hosts are required to provide accurate and honest information in their listings. We encourage our community to report any listings that seem suspicious or misleading. Hosts who violate our policies will be removed from the platform.

Privacy & Data Protection

We protect your personal data using secure, industry-standard systems like Firebase. We will never sell your information to third parties. For more details, please review our Privacy Policy.

Community Guidelines

  • Practice respect and clear communication between hosts and guests.
  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or any unsafe behavior.
  • Ensure you comply with your university’s housing rules and all local laws.

Reporting & Support

If you encounter any issues, from scams to safety concerns, please report them to our support team immediately. We offer 24/7 email support and take all reports seriously to ensure the safety of our community.

Safety Tips for Users

  • Always use our secure messaging system to communicate.
  • Thoroughly review user profiles and reviews before booking or accepting a stay.
  • Carefully read listing descriptions and rules.
  • When meeting for the first time, consider doing so in a public place.

Our Limitations (Liability Disclaimer)
