Honesty and Transparency

  • Be truthful in your profile and listings.
  • Only list spaces you are legally allowed to sublet or rent.
  • Provide accurate details about availability, pricing, and amenities.

Safety First

  • Follow all local laws, building rules, and university housing policies.
  • Hosts must ensure listings are safe and habitable.
  • Guests should respect property rules and treat spaces responsibly.

Use the Platform Properly

  • Always communicate and pay through the Shacked platform.
  • Off-platform payments or communication are prohibited (and unsafe).
  • Do not attempt scams, spam, or fraudulent activity.

Protect Privacy

  • Respect the privacy of other students.
  • Do not share personal contact information outside of secure platform channels.
  • Do not misuse or reshare other users’ photos, details, or conversations.

Reporting Issues

  • Users are encouraged to report suspicious listings, inappropriate behavior, or safety concerns.
  • We review all reports and take action, including suspending or removing accounts.

Consequences for Violations

  • Violations of these guidelines may result in warnings, account suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.
  • Severe violations (fraud, harassment, illegal activity) may be referred to law enforcement or universities.
